Myobradypterygius hauthali

Once a member of the speciose genus Platypterygius, Myobradypterygius was a relatively large Ophthalmosaurid Ichthyosaur at around 6-6.5 meters (19-21 feet) in adult length known from Chile. It was a late surviving member of the group, from the Early Cretaceous. Like other Ophthalmosaurids, it had a deep body and large eyes, suggesting it to be a deep diving animal. It likely fed on small fish, squid, and the occasional marine reptile.
